A Brief History and Secrets of Success

The Sunrise Bakery tradition began in 1963, when businessman Gerry Renzenbrink and Baker, Herman Bodewitz purchased a community bakery and offered customers quality pastries and sheet cakes at affordable prices.  The Dutch born entrepreneurs went door to door, selling their quality baked goods.  The rest has been history about a small company built from one customer at a time to an expansion of a larger commercial facility with numerous customers across Canada and the United States.  Pride and ownership continue with the Sunrise Bakery tradition, focusing on customer service and flexibility to exceed customer expectations.  Many of the successful recipes can be traced to some of the Dutch born bakers who have perfected recipes passed down from one generation to the next, locking in that home goodness taste that’s released with every bite.


Sunrise Bakery’s experience and services can also be attributed to the company’s commitment to its staff too.  Management emphasizes creating a workplace where staff is encouraged to suggest improvements, allowing talents to unfold and the makings of a great team.  The small bakery ambience amongst 80 persons is maintained by daily contact on a first name basis between staff and management.  Staff retention levels remains unsurpassed, with many clocking in 10 years and 20 years of service.


For the future, Sunrise Bakery looks forward to further growth, while producing quality products and superior customer service.  The company has successfully initiated Food Service Pro Data Interchange, which supports sales automation in the food service industry and Electronic Data Interchange, which facilitates sales order transactions.  Success may look sweet from the outside, but it has not been without hard work, and a dedicated staff and above all, bend over backwards service to keep the customers happy and coming back for more.
